When it comes to the cataclysm, it’s all about your attitude. Dead Island 2 is Dead Island as it was always meant to be–an intense, splanchnic nerve frolic through the sunshine state that invites you and your friends to unlock your zombie slaying potential and get lost on a permanent summer vacation.

Dead Island 2 is the follow up to Dead Island, the fast paced, zombie-action game developed by Deep Silver. It is the fourth installation in the Dead Island branch, which is following Dead Island, Dead Island: Riptide.

Several months after the events on Banoi, the United States military has put the Golden State under full quarantine. Now a restricted zone, California has become a bloody paradise for those who refuse to leave their homes and an action-packed playground for renegades who seek adventure, glory and a fresh start. There is no inherent explanation for the zombie outbreak but they are rather an established fact in our world who do not come as a surprise.

According to an interview with IGN Game Director Bernard Diemer says there is no end to the game, i.e. you can not beat it, and there’s no set beginning. It ties in with the game’s seamless multiplayer in which up to eight players join forces and help each other with endless amounts of missions. Those eight players join in randomly (without having to accept them), similar to how Journey functions.

Beautifully bloodthirsty. That’s what I came away thinking after having some lengthy hands-on time with Dead Island 2. Dead island 2 has the potential to be the defining Dead island title. it’s fun, absolutely stunning and has all the blood and gore zombie killers could want. If Yager can find the perfect blend of enjoyable game-play and a decent story to back it up, Dead Island 2 could be just the next-gem mutilation we’ve been waiting for.
