O2 the world largest Mobile operator launching Europe’s largest free wireless internet zone in central London covering Westminster,Chelsea and Kensington, the agreement sign between councils and network operator O2 at no extra cost to taxpayer or councils.
Residents and visitors to central London will enjoy free access to O2 WIFI on their mobile phones,laptops and tablet devices to share pictures and updates Olympics events on social networking websites. Installation of metro wireless network system will start initially in Westminster this month and should complete by March 2012. This system will install on the streets of London at available structures.
Chief operating officer Derek McManus of O2 said “This ground-breaking deal the first of its kind in the UK will see us deliver high quality connectivity across London in time for London 2012 he added that “Our longer-term aim is to expand our footprint of O2 WI FI, which is open to everyone,and also intelligently enhance our services at street level,where people need the network the most.”
