One of the most annoying things in life is running out of disk space on your computer! Well, if you use these five tips, then you can easily free up storage space on your PC:
Upgrade Internal Storage
It’s possible for you to completely replace your hard drive and install a new one. Obviously, this means you can install a drive with as much storage as you want. Some computers/laptops are really good but don’t come with enough storage. This can put you off buying the device you truly want. But, if you know how, you can take out the hard drive and replace it with a better one. So, you can buy the device you want and improve its storage!
You’ve probably heard of the cloud before; it’s a very popular thing these days. The cloud is becoming important to both normal life and business life. There are so many great things about the cloud, with IT company Cloudamour even saying it can reduce your carbon footprint! But one of the main benefits is that it provides you with extra storage. If your hard drive is full, you can move files to the cloud to free up space. Also, the cloud is a great place to securely back-up precious files and photos. By using the cloud, you can reduce hard disk space and improve overall computer speed.
Get An External Hard Drive
An easy way for you to free up space on your PC is to invest in an external hard drive. This means you can store all your files on the external drive, leaving more space on your PC. Or, you can store some on your PC and some on the drive. The benefit of an external drive is that they’re relatively cheap and great value for money. Also, it’s essentially expanding the storage your PC offers. Plus, you can take it with you, and you’ll have your files on the move. Obviously the only minor drawback is that you have to plug it in whenever you want to use it. So, if it’s not with you when you need it, then you’re in a spot of bother.
Delete Temporary Files
One thing that clogs up a lot of disk space are temporary files. These are files that are pretty much worthless and serve no purpose other than to take up storage. Normally they come when you download something from the internet, you get a temporary file with it. They temporarily store information while a new file is being made. So, when you have that new file, you don’t need the temporary one. You can easily delete all the temporary files by going to the ‘disk cleanup’ feature on your PC. Once there you just have to check ‘temporary files’ and it will delete them all for you.
If you want to save room on your PC, then consider compressing files. If you compress a file, then it makes it a lot smaller than what it is. Naturally, this will free up space, and you get to keep a lot of your files. It’s really simple to do, all you need is the correct file compressing software.
